Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

In this article we will help you understand how Cognitive Behavioral Therapy works. Through a series of procedures including meditation, self-talk, critical skill building, you will see that CBT is the process that teaches one to use all aspects of the mind to make good decisions. CBT and BPD

Cognitive learning is the process that concerns itself with acquisitions of knowledge that relates to the processes of acquiring knowledge by the use of reasoning, intuition and perceptions. It relates to the thought processes and helps a person to challenge the deepest problems that develop from their childhood or life experiences.

Through past knowledge that you learned and through new understandings you will welcome the challenge of learning how to think positive by using the critical mind and other parts of the mind.

The mind works in mysterious ways. The focus of CBT, however, is tuned into attention, memory, pattern recognition, images, semantic organization, language processes, thinking and so forth. Yet it also focuses on behaviorism to help you from Borderline Personality Disorder - BPD.

Behaviorism Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

The failure of behaviorism is its insistence on the overt responses to stimuli. It fails to account for the diversity of human behaviors in which we all use to express ourselves. From such studies experts came to the conclusion that behaviorism comes from internal mental processes which relate to immediate stimuli and influenced behaviors.

Once scientists concluded that they could use these theories by incorporating them into CBT, the communication theory soon emerged.

Communication study helped scientists to focus on signal detection, cybernetics, attention and information. This communication study helped scientists to see that linguistics should be thoroughly explored and it became clear that modern grammical structure and language concerned cognition.

The studies led scientists to explore the memory and how it retains information from experiences and knowledge. Verbal learning and semantic organization became a focus of study which brought forth the model of memory systems.

It is clear that CBT deals with all aspects of the mind and how it works. It is also clear that CBT deals with behaviors and how they become present. Thus, CBT is the process of learning from the knowledge that you retain in your mind.

In summary, we all learn from our past experiences. Most people with Borderline Personality Disorder - BPD go through life failing to see that what we learned created a belief system with emotional consequences. For example, one may believe that making changes in our life is not worth risking the security and safety we have developed from our self-defeating thinking and behaviors.

Summary

Now that you have taken the time to learn about CBT and how it works, it is now time to work through some worksheets to help you conquer Borderline Personality Disorder - BPD. Yet, before you can benefit from using the worksheets you will need to learn how the emotions function and how they affect your life.
