Overcome Your OCD with Online Therapy

Most of us have, at some time, felt uncertain about leaving the iron or the stove on and some have even gone home to check. This type of behavior is just normal and doesn't cause any damage or harm in one's life. However, if you have intrusive "what if" thoughts, and your need to perform these behaviors on a regular basis and they interfere with your daily life, then you might be suffering from OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder).

OCD is a condition marked by irrational beliefs (obsessions) and rituals (compulsions). The obsessions are recurrent, unwanted thoughts that are difficult or impossible for you to ignore and cause you anxiety. By performing repetitive, ritualized compulsions, you (temporarily) ease your anxiety. It may, for example, be that you often wash your hands very thoroughly, or check all the locks in your home. You may feel like you "have" to do these rituals. These thoughts and behaviors most likely take up a lot of your time and energy, causing you significant stress which can cause tension in your relationships and other aspects of your life.

Luckily there is hope, even if you have tried to stop your compulsions before and it has not been as successful as you would like. Our therapy for OCD is based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). With the help of CBT and your therapist, you will identify what triggers your OCD. You will learn how to face your obsessions and find ways to refrain from ritualizing. Eventually you will be able to face these triggers without the need to perform your normal rituals (like washing your hands several times in a row or checking the lights numerous times). You will discover how to replace these negative thoughts with more realistic ones. Eventually you will be in charge of the thoughts and behaviors that previously have been fueling your OCD, so that you can live life free from obsessions and compulsions.

"I am delighted and content with my weekly sessions with my therapist, Cynthia. I had to switch therapists several times across different online providers due to dissatisfaction with their inconsistent attendance and last-minute cancellations. There were weeks when I needed those sessions, but unfortunately, I couldn't rely on them.

After just a month with online-therapy.com, I can confidently say that I'm back on track and grateful for gifting myself these weekly sessions. I am committed to continuing this for a year, integrating it as a vital component of my personal growth. I'm in it for the long run and excited about the positive impact on my well-being. I genuinely believe that everyone should consider therapy, as the effects can be surprisingly transformative.

As a suggestion, I hope that a mobile app is developed for easier navigation, and the option for meetings to be hosted on the Zoom platform would be convenient.

"I feel heard, listened to and understood. In therapy with other therapist I didn't feel like I was really heard. I felt like they were just going through the motions with me and didn't really care. However with Dr Cannady I feel as though she cares about me."

"This app has many features to help make it through a rough time, the yoga I have been doing for years really helps to calm your nerves. It is also great exercise. Their is a calendar feature that if you don't already use a calendar can help plan out your time can help to get through and see that things improve with activity. As well as evidence based cognitive approaches and therapy."

"Shelly Clark is a beacon of hope! She always gave me a welcoming safe place to share, be heard and guided to cope and navigate effectively through life's ups and downs. She is down to earth, warm and knowledgeable.
I think we all want to have that friend or family member that we can come and talk to that knows just what to say and gives tuff love in a loving way that motivates. She is that person for me and I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to meet her. A real gem! Thank you Shelly!

"My husband and I have had a great experience so far. I have had therapy in the past and this is his first time. It's really user friendly and the Dr. gets back to you quickly. I like that I can do it on Sundays."
