Most people associate diets with losing weight rather than seeing diet in its true light, as in "eating the right food in the right amounts". Fad diets are short-lived diet plans that change often, and do not provide lasting effects. Most of the fad diets simply limit our food supplies, yet our bodies require a variety of food to maintain healthy weight. Diets that are built to encourage us to eat only one food source, or that make claims that you can eat all you desire and still lose weight, are fads. These are dangerous diet plans and must be avoided. Any diet plan that claims you will get fast results, or fails to teach people how to make lifestyle changes, is called a fad diet. You've probably heard of the diet plans that claim you can reach the desired weight by losing, gaining, and losing weight in cycles. These types of diets are known as Yo-Yo diet plans that do not work, or produce only short-term results, and the side effects are risky. Other diets to avoid include fasting, liquid-protein diets, and diet pills. Fasting means to go for days without food, and this is one of the most dangerous methods of losing weight. To maintain healthy growth and energy you need the proper food supply, but when the body is deprived of energy from nutritional foods, the muscle tissues overwork to supply it. This dieting method can be dangerous and even fatal. Another dangerous or fatal choice of dieting includes the liquid-protein diets. These diets consist of high-protein and low-carbohydrate liquids. FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) warns us that such diets can have serious and even fatal side effects. Those who promote them are legally obligated to include warning labels on the products they market or sell. Anyone choosing this diet should ask their doctor to monitor their plan. People who want to lose weight fast often try various diet pills. Marketers who promote the pills often claim that a person can burn, flush, or block fat. Diet pills are high-risk aids that often come with serious side effects. Some of the diet pills sold today are addictive, and can cause complications such as anxiety and fatigue. Such dangerous alternatives have lead people to develop eating disorders. People may turn to the pills to lose weight fast, simply because they have a desire to look like the models they see on television or in the media. Commercialism has led the vast majority of society into believing that to look beautiful you must be thin. Most of the models presented on television and in commercials do not live up to the reputation of a healthy person at all. Instead, most of these models are underweight, and at risk of health problems in the future. Media and commercialism has led the vast majority of people into developing obsessions. Millions of people obsess over being thin, which has caused major problems including two serious illnesses known as anorexia and bulimia nervosa. Throughout the centuries, people have been more or less designed by idealists who dictate how females and males are suppose to look. Models are used every single day in commercials to present that "ideal" image, yet we are all unique individuals with different body types, sizes, and shapes. Therefore, the ideal image for you to present is that of yourself, and you should maintain a realistic weight limit that fits your body size, shape, and frame. By changing your attitude to fit your own style, you will lose weight faster. If you have an idea that you are suppose to look like a famous model, then get mental and emotional help so that you can adjust your thinking and learn the most effective methods of losing weight. When someone decides they want to lose weight to stay healthy, they have made the ultimate right choice that will guide them on their voyage to success. If you are losing weight to accommodate some image you have drawn from century-old teachings, you will need assistance in reforming the way you think. You will likely fail in your weight-loss journey if you intend to lose weight to fit a certain image. Be yourself. Strive to be who you are. Do not strive to be someone else.
