Becoming a psychotherapist has been a challenging and exhilarating journey. I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology from Tufts University as a non-traditional student, graduating at the age of 26 with my 3-year-old son by my side. I earned my master's degree in school psychology from the College of Saint Rose, but quickly realized I could have the most impact working with teens and adults. I completed additional coursework in order to be licensed as a mental health counselor, then advanced training and supervision in EMDR and Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy.
My primary focus is based on the methods pioneered by the great Virginia Satir. Satir understood that all of our functioning in life, and our level of satisfaction with it, relates to how well we know and fully experience the Self. In my work with clients, they are guided to deeper connection with and appreciation of Self. When this occurs, the plans and decisions they make for their lives begin to flow naturally and synchronistically, leading not only to greater personal health, but healthier relationships, improved income and greater joy. EMDR is employed when needed to release trauma.
Online therapy can be as powerful as in person sessions, and sometimes more so. It is my greatest joy to watch my clients create the lives they most desire.
