I don't think it is a secret that life can be challenging. There are times when we move through it with ease. But there are times when we are faced with problems and issues that affect us in many different ways. Sometimes you have friends and family or other people in your life that can help and support you, but sometimes you just need somebody outside of your circle who isn't so close to listen to you and to give you comfort and aid. I like to think I can provide my clients with the support they need to get through their stress in life and also give them tools to overcome that stress when it happens again.
I work with teens and adults, young adults in their mid-teens to adults in their late 80s and 90s. I work with teens who may be suffering from anxiety and depression due to social issues, academic challenges, family relational issues and issues with maturing into adulthood. For adults, I work with clients who have anxiety and depression due to many factors, including job-related stress, relational issues, grief and loss, chronic disease, change of life, family-related stress and interpersonal issues among many issues.
I employ a number of approaches in my therapy. I typically start with humanistic-based techniques to welcome you with unconditional positive regard and to create a warm and accepting therapeutic environment for you. Depending on your symptoms, I use CBT and Solution-focused Therapy to help you take a broader look at the issue and then we arrive at solutions and coping strategies together. I also use other treatments to work with your issues, all depending on the symptoms and solutions.
I am a graduate of UCLA with a bachelor's in History. I have worked in law, technology and construction in my past. I trained in martial arts and I am an avid bicyclist. I hold a Master's of Education from UC Santa Cruz and a Master's of Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in California. I did my practicum mainly in schools. I graduated from JFKU in 2011 and I was finally licensed in 2015.
I believe my broad range of life experience and education gives me the perspective to understand and empathize with you as we work together. I urge you to reach out should you need help and support. Take care and have a blessed day.
