Debra Mcguffee

I have a Masters Degree in Psychology from the Alfred Adler Graduate School in Minnetonka, MN. I received my BA from Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis/St. Paul. In addition I received a Professional Business Certificate Anoka, MN.

I have achieved my life dream as working as a Individual, Marriage and Family Therapist. I have worked with individuals couples and family relationships and issues for the past 26 years.

Past work history includes gaining experience working with many SPMI
(Severe and persistent mental illness)
clients. In this capacity I worked as a Senior Mental Health Case Manager for
7 years. Helped folks suffering from depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, personality disorders, dual diagnosis, and alcohol, drug, gambling & addictions.

I have had special training and volunteer work in Grief and Loss, an Emergency Crisis Line, working with women trying to quit crack cocaine and prostitution and a Schizophrenic Drop in Center. I volunteered in each position for 1 year.

I also served on the SEED Board for two years. This is an educational training for people in Ramsey County who have SPMI, severe and persistent mental illness.

The therapies I utilize are mostly are Cognitive Behavioral, Adlerian Psychology and Solution Focused.

From time to time depending on client choice or situation I also use DBT, Rogerian, Rational Emotive Therapy or Gestalt.

These therapies can be used separately in a session or in combination with each other go help client move forward.
