MBACP, PG Dip Counselliing
Since completing training as a psychodynamic counsellor in 2012, I have worked in a variety of settings, including UK National Health Service, universities, schools and charitable organisations, as well as in private practice.
My work focuses on young adults from the age of 16 to mid-20s, as they navigate the overwhelming amount of choices and decisions that have to be made during this time. Not only are our young people coping with an intense period during which they mature and change physically, emotionally, intellectually and neurologically; but they are faced with exams, making significant life-choices, forming adult relationships and leaving home.
Young adults, whilst becoming intellectually and emotionally sophisticated, have not yet had the opportunity to develop the experience and self-knowledge to navigate these tricky times with ease. This, for many, results in intense anxiety, which impacts on their ability to achieve their goals. I work with a combination of techniques, including life coaching, behavioural therapies and psychodynamic work to help them understand and name their emotions and develop strategies and tools to manage them as they enter into adulthood.
