Due to notable health issues in my early 20's, I developed a keen interest in personal growth and stress management. After getting my Bachelor's degree in 1994, I received certifications in hypnosis, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and Kundalini Yoga. In 1998, I began life coaching and maintained that private practice until starting on my Master's degree in Counseling and Psychology in 2004, finalizing licensure to practice independently in 2006. In both my personal and professional practice, I have found an Integrative approach with CBT as its foundation, to be quite effective, especially in the treatment of traumatic history and anxiety-related concerns. I have experience emphasizing nutrition for those who like to avoid medications, but I am also very familiar with standard medication regimens and am in the process of becoming a Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider.
One of my favorite aspects of the counseling process is Homework Assignments. Although that word may trigger unhappy school memories for some, Homework is an integral component of the CBT approach and can help clients to grow more insightful, to hone coping skills and to ingrain new habits--habits that can help create happier, healthier people.
