About Me

Hi, I was first introduced to Cognitive Therapy in 1990 . In that first conversation I discovered something that enabled me to take back control of my thoughts, my feelings, my behaviour and control of my life. My initial reaction was simply WOW! I have now been practicing cognition's ever since which has been a life changing and life enhancing experience which I would love the opportunity to help you discover for yourself.

We all encounter situations and form habits that can have a negative effect on our mental wellbeing, a hard day at work, family and financial commitments, loss or childhood experiences, worries, fears, anxieties or depression. What if I could show you a way to break down those barriers to a contented and happier way of life? As well as techniques used in CBT I will also introduce you to the DBT Self Management Skills which used in conjunction with CBT will enhance your self awareness and control.

I gained my certificates in Counselling Skills and Counselling Studies in 2009 and have 4 year's experience as a Residential Support Worker , working with those with complex mental health needs. I have gained a variety of experiences and qualifications to enable me to positively and constructively support you with taking back control of your life and your mental health.
I have Diplomas in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Advanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Life Coaching. I am also a member of the Complimentary Medical Association.

I have written my experience and qualifications but what I want you to remember is I was you 28 years ago. Desperately searching for a way to improve my life for myself and my family. I have experienced first hand the benefits of CBT and DBT and have knowledge of all of the up to date skills and techniques involved. I would now like the opportunity to share these tools with you and completely support you in making the positive life long changes needed to become the person you have always been but not yet discovered. I look forward to joining you on your journey of Self awareness and positive Self change.

"Im my teens and early 20's I was diagnosed with multiple mental health conditions , had a number of hospital admissions and put on many different types of medication to treat these 'conditions' none of which worked for me. I had been taught that I didn't have control over my mind because of the illnesses I had and that I needed medication to 'manage". Jean introduced the concept that actually i can be in control of my mind and thoughts if I chose to. I grasped this concept, I desperately wanted to escape the hell I was experiencing In my head and I knew this was going to be what was going to help me. Jean taught me CBT and empowered me to challenge my thoughts. she was extremely patient with me and kept on persevering with me because she believed that I could do it. And I did. Jean has given me the platform to my recovery and a well equipped tool box to take on life challenges. The skills I have learned from Jean have now become second nature to me. I no longer take any medication nor do I suffer with poor mental health and my life has improved more than I can put in to words. As well as jeans impressive professional qualifications, her life experience is what enables her to have the real empathy, compassion and patience for the people she helps. Jean has not only help me grow in to a better woman and mother, she helped me flourish! I've taken back control of my health and my life and I'm able to deal with the challenges that I'm faced with in life in a positive, healthy and productive way. I'm forever grateful for this amazing lady who has helped me to find myself and keep me and my son together ."

"I was looking for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as I'd heard it was effective to treat stress conditions etc. Luckily I found Jean Block.
