M.A. Couns. Psych
Kelly completed her professional Masters degree in counselling psychology in South Africa but now lives and works in Ireland. Kelly has worked in various contexts as a psychologist such as the public sector (the NHS), various Universities in the student counselling departments, as well as the private sector. As a Chartered Counselling Psychologist Kelly is committed to engaging wholly with each client in first seeking to understand their particular life circumstances and developmental stage, then getting a sense of what the difficulty is and finally integrating this assessment and understanding into her work with the client to help resolve their difficulty and/or bring peace and acceptance to a particular situation or experience. Kelly has experience in working with clients across the life-span and with a range of difficulties and yet each client is unique and Kelly maintains an immense respect for each individual who take up the hard work of healing. Kelly prefers only to use diagnostic labels when necessary seeing many symptoms as expressions of complex lives and believes that when we compassionately try to understand our feelings and behaviours through self-reflection and enquiry we often become more able to choose our response to what life brings to us. Kelly works in a client centred way but also has an interest in using techniques found in Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
