Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I am a graduate of the Masters in Clinical Social Work program at the University of St Thomas, and prior to that I earned my Bachelors in Human Services/Sociology from Buena Vista University. I have been a resident of rural Minnesota most of my life and part of what excites me about the use of online connections for therapy is that it offers accessibility for those who need it most.
In the past ten years I have worked with clients of all ages from birth to hospice and from many different walks of life. In my work I love to be creative when possible, using art, music and mindfulness. I also offer a compassionate presence to all of my clients, meaning I meet you wherever you are in your walk and will not push you in any direction you are not ready to go. I always want my clients goals to be their goals, I will help you reach them but think its important to know that I wont push you to deal with things you are not ready to. In our work together you are the driver!
I believe that connection is something all humans desire and am trained in the Natural Lifemanship method, a method that offers connection and bottom up regulation of the brain. It also offers coping skills for those times when you might feel dis-regulated. Anxiety, Depression, Attachment issues, PTSD and many other diagnosis benefit from genuine connection and that is what I strive for in my work.
I am a Christian and do offer prayer partnering with my clients but also am very respectful of everyone choices in religion and would never push this on anyone. If you are unsure about your faith or have had a faith crisis therapy is a great way to explore your needs in the area of spirituality. I believe that we need to treat the whole person for the best results ! I look forward to meeting you and beginning our journey together.
