Dr. Yael Banai

I have a PhD in Educational (School) Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Counseling, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have 30 years in the field working primarily in schools and specialize in school/adjustment problems, childhood onset bi-polar disorder, attention deficit disorder and ancillary problems with anxiety and depression in children and young adults.

My primary therapeutic areas of expertise are behavioral and cognitive behavioral. I have also used Transactional Analysis, as appropriate to the individual. My focus is in assisting children and their parents in coping with behavioral difficulties associated with ADHD, Depression, Early Onset Bi-Polar Disorder and Anxiety. Depending on the age of the child, I use behavioral and cognitive behavioral techniques. I also have extensive experience working with highly non-compliant children (up to age 8), those who present with tantrum behavior. Adjustments to daily living, communication skills and developmental adjustment are addressed.
