Work Experience: I spent the first 25 years of my adult life serving in the United States Army and the South Carolina Army National Guard. After returning from Afghanistan in 2013 and preparing to retire from military service, I embarked on this new journey of becoming a Master Social Worker. I first began my social work career working at Carolina Behavior Therapy, a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) clinic in Columbia, SC. After completing the necessary requirements to become a Licensed Independent Social Worker, I began providing services on BetterHelp in a part-time status. Shortly after the onset of covid, I founded my own LLC, Midlands Behavior Therapy and have been working independently since that time. I currently have 6 years of combined MSW experience.
Philosophy: I view therapy as a collaborative effort between the client and their therapist, in an effort to guide the client towards a more fulfilling life. I do believe using a more holistic approach, including the biosocial aspects of each individual, is paramount in being able to empower clients to over come the physical, mental, and emotional challenges of life and learn skills that will help them build a solid foundation of emotional and psychological strengths in order to live into the life they deem as the one worth living within.
