About Me

Hi there…

First, before you read about me, I would like to share a quote with you that really speaks to me and supports my world view when it comes to healing.

“Something amazing happens when we surrender and just love. We melt into another world, a realm of power already within us. The world changes when we change. The world softens when we soften. The world loves us when we choose to love the world.” - Marianne Williamson.

It is my firm belief that people ‘can’ and ‘do’ change! And at any age. This belief not only comes from the healing of my own traumas and experiencing that transformation first hand, I have also witnessed the same healing and resolution in so many of the people I have worked with, from young people to older adults. We are never stuck in one spot physically, mentally, emotionally or even spiritually. It may seem like an obvious statement - but change is the only constant.

I have spent the last 15 years working in Schools, Universities, National/Provincial health systems and in Private Practice where my training and experience has enabled me to work with a combination of therapeutic strategies including counselling skills, solution-focussed therapy and body-oriented work. I have also used techniques that help to balance and calm the nervous system and to integrate new ways of thinking. Most of the people I have worked with have been struggling with their mental health and balancing their emotions due to anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress, obsessive compulsive disorder, childhood or teen traumas, relationship difficulties, addictions, grief, brain fog, disease and chronic pain.

Healing is a journey, an adventure. It can seem scary, but it is also a chance to create a new and more fulfilling world for yourself and the people around you. If this speaks to you, I would be honoured to walk that path with you.

Finally, I wish to share that my personal experience thus far with providing online therapy, along with client feedback, has shown me that whilst supporting clients through the medium of 'messaging' can be useful to some, weekly video or voice call sessions have proven far more therapeutic and effective in helping them to:

- talk things through with another impartial and non-judgemental human being
- gain insights and understanding about themselves and the world around them
- to learn new strategies for managing their emotions and thought processes
- and to act on behavioural or practical changes that make a very real and long lasting difference to their lives.

With this mind, my preference has developed more towards working with people who are willing and able to do weekly video or voice calls. Thanks for your understanding.

"The video sessions are easy to set up and I am glad there is no need to use Zoom or any other platform for them.
The therapist that the service matched me up with at the start sadly had no free slots in my time zone, still she was really responsive through the chat , but I had to change her.
Amanda, the therapist I have right now, is really good, flexible with hours for the sessions and also responsive with the chat even if there is a 6 hour difference in our time zones.
I enjoy the journal and the additional exercises sections, there are also meditations and yoga tutorials and if it wasn't that those practices have been already part of my routine for years I am sure they would be helpful.
All in all it's a very good service and I get 2 sessions a week for the same price of one on similar online mental support platforms!
Really recommended

"I have really enjoyed the worksheets and sections which have allowed new tools to be learned. And in those worksheets I have been able to have great convos with my therapist within the dashboard and as well as brining up topics to talk about during sessions together."

"Have tried several online therapy sites and have been umimpressed by the quality of therapists. Signed up for online-therapy with little expectation but thought I'd try. My therapist so far has been awesome and I am looking forward to therapy with her for a long time!"

"It has been wonderful working with a therapist online who responds in depth to my worksheets and messages. I enjoy having the live session once a week to go a little deeper into the self work and discover new methods to help overcome some of my personal issues. So far, this has been a great experience."
