Barry Aneda

Hi Folks,

My name is Barry Aneda. I am a licensed mental health counselor, a licensed professional counselor, and a licensed professional clinical counselor. I am currently enrolled at California Southern University working towards my PsyD degree in clinical psychology. I am currently in ABD status and have completed the comprehensive exam to move forward with finishing the dissertation requirement. I also have two master's degrees one in general psychology from Capella University and the other in professional counseling for Georgia State University (CACREP accredited). I have varied work experience which consists of outpatient and inpatient settings. I have worked in psychiatric hospitals, mental health, and health clinics, substance centers as well private practice settings. I also have experience in educational settings where I continue to work as an adjunct psychology professor teaching psychology courses for undergraduate students. In regards to my theoretical approaches, they consist of an integrative/evidence-based approach based on trauma-informed approaches, person-centered theory, motivational interviewing, stages of change theory, solution-focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, career development theory, gestalt therapy, group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, creative arts therapy, animal-assisted therapy (emotional support animals) and multicultural perspectives. My work has involved group, couples, family, and individual counseling modalities. My clinical specialty consists of counseling with LGBTQI experiences assisting clients and their families utilizing strengths-based knowledge of social justice approaches. Thank you!
