During this uncertain time, it is so important that you find someone to connect with. While I myself am currently under quarantine, I am healthy and hope for the same for you. It is so important that we find and maintain connections. Right now, online is the safest way. The relationship we form with our therapist is more important than anything. It is within that relationship that we then can name what is needed most immediately. This may be relief from flashbacks, or a need to quickly address anxiety. We then can begin working on what is needed longer term.
While I do find use of EMDR effective online, it needs to be used carefully. I most like about the theory behind EMDR. I do not directly recommend EMDR right away. We would need to talk for one or two sessions and then think about. I'm happy to share more about that when we talk.
Another aspect of online therapy is creativity and individualized participation during online therapy. Preparing for the set up. Questions like where to sit or stand, how close to the camera, the lighting are great. Often it's what we can share that is most important to be prepared for ahead of time. Perhaps it is poetry, perhaps it is art work that can be help up to the camera, perhaps it is photographs etc. Online therapy can be creative, fun, and engaging.
I look forward to speaking with you.
