SNHS Dip CBT
I have been married for over 30 years and have 4 successful adult children and one grand daughter.
At the young age of 16, I found my passion for clinic environments. I first started in Veterinary clinics before having children. After my third child, I was in a car accident and suffered a whiplash injury. At that time, I sought help from a chiropractor. Through this injury, I was introduced to all the benefits chiropractic care can provide. It wasn't long before I had signed my whole family up for chiropractic care. I did heal from the whiplash, but my family and I continued to receive chiropractic adjustments. I used the service as a preventative way of keeping myself and my family well. It was this experience that inspired me to continue to educate myself with complimentary health therapies. I was so passionate about being able to offer my family a great start in life by keeping them well and not just treat symptoms and by doing so as naturally as possible.
In 1997, 3 of my children and myself appeared on the CTV 6pm news, in the segment about Chiropractic Care and Asthma. My youngest son had severe asthma and in conjunction with his medical treatment plan, used chiropractic care to help lessen the attacks. When my youngest child turned 4, I contemplated returning to work. At that time, my mother worked as a Chiropractic Health Assistant for several years and heard about a CHA position that was available. Since I was already familiar with clinic environments and coupled by my belief in the benefits of chiropractic care, I thought it was a good fit for me and applied for the position. That was 18 years ago. I first started out as a CHA, but quickly advanced to Manager. Throughout those years, while managing clinics, I continued to educate myself in different complimentary health modalities and went on to earn diplomas in Shiatsu, Reflexology, Aromatherapy & Reiki and provided those services to members of my rural community in Northern Ontario in my spare time.
In my time as manager of the chiropractic clinic, I found great joy in educating new and existing patients to the benefits of chiropractic adjustments and the wellness approach. It is a life long passion of mine. I feel privileged to have met lots of patients/clients over the years whom have trusted me at their lowest moments, and believed in me enough to seek the necessary help so they could not only feel better, but stay healthy naturally. Over the years, the love of what I did grew stronger and I continued to strive to educate people. It was easy to do since everyday I saw the benefits to the patients. In the last 18 years, I met lots of chiropractors and other natural practitioners whom I now consider life long friends.
If you ask me what my greatest accomplishment is, besides my family, I would say serving the patients/clients, a passion like no other. I credit my success to my family, whom have been supportive of my passion to help others, and the chiropractor who took a chance on me by hiring me.
In 2015, after 18 years, I was an integral part of moving the chiropractor I worked for into his retirement by helping him "pass" his torch onto his successor. At this time in my life, it felt right to start to pursue my own ventures and also retired from clinic life. With my kids grown and no longer at home, my husband and I sold our home and embarked on a sailing journey on our catamaran sailboat to different areas of the Caribbean. During this time, I was fortunate enough to meet lots of people from the different countries and realized just how much of a need there is for wellness care. In 2017, we made our way to the UK and into Europe, where I decided to embark on providing wellness options to people around the world, to areas perhaps that lacked these options, by providing services virtually where possible. To do this, it was evident to me that I needed to have Diplomas recognized not only in Canada, but in Europe too, so I decided to get the necessary Diplomas for Europe and also did my schooling to be able to offer CBT Therapy as well as Nutritional Consulting. I wanted to be able to offer clients a well rounded choice to suit their particular need.
Given my 18 years experience in the complimentary wellness field, I am excited to be able to now offer CBT Therapy to clients. While, I am able to accommodate most CBT clients, I feel that my expertise would be great with pain management, eating disorders, addictions and children. I am able to not only provide knowledge, I often can incorporate Aromatherapy into my sessions. I have a broad practitioner base referral system in place for added support to my clients should the need arise. My approach embraces the individual as a whole and strives to make positive changes in all areas of the clients life by allowing the client to be the "lead star" in their decision to reach their optimal health, whether that be body, mind or spirit.
If you are looking for change in your life, trying to reach your goals, I am ready to walk that journey to health with you.
