Cynthia Mitchell

I have my Master's in Clinical Counseling through Bellevue University after graduating in May 2020. I have worked in the medical field for over 10 years. I have been working in a therapeutic setting since 2019. I have been a fully licensed therapist since May of 2023. I am currently licensed in Iowa with 3 years of professional work experience. I have plans on expanding the states that I am licensed with so that I can serve a broader range of clients. I am also working to expand my certifications in specialized modalities of treatment, so that I am better able to assist the clients I work with in a broader spectrum.
I have experience in helping clients with trauma, stress and anxiety, motivation, self esteem, and confidence, & depression. I also have experience working with concentration, memory and focus (ADHD). I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment.
I feel that as a therapist, we should be able to think outside the box when it comes to our clients. While we are all human, we do not all fit the same mold as everyone else around us. Whether it is through art, music, mindfulness, or examining our thoughts and behaviors. I strive to help my clients in the manner that suits them best. My job isn’t to fit them into a specific mold or modality, but to utilize whatever techniques that I can to help my clients work through and process their issues in the best way possible.
I try to be as honest with my clients as I possibly can and I also try to not suggest a piece of homework or exercise without having gone through the exercise myself. I feel that if I have not been able to experience the exercise, then I am not able to connect with my clients in the best manner possible.
