About Me

I have been enjoyed providing individual therapy for over 10 years now. I received my MSW from University of New England and my BA from Dickinson College. I have worked with all types of people over the years across the spectrum of mental health challenges. I really like people and getting to know them and providing a sounding board to help guide oneself through whatever is facing them.

My experience has included years in community mental health providing assessment for psychiatry and individual therapy. I also have worked in a substance abuse treatment center. More recently I have been in private practice and traveling educating other health professionals about Lyme disease and medical cannabis.

I specialize helping folks with chronic illness, in particular Lyme and other tick borne diseases as these have complicated mental health presentations at times and present a unique set of life challenges and difficulties navigating the health systems, much like other chronic diseases. I often treat people for generalized anxiety, depression, insomnia, family/relational problems.
I also have extensive experience with addiction.

I enjoy using CBT work and interacting with clients in a variety of ways that online therapy offers.
I generally practice with the guidelines of ACT and use CBT specific exercises often.

This course has been amazing for me. I have been suffering from anger issues and minor depression and PTSD for years. The course took me about 2 weeks to complete but after just the first day I started recognizing my own negative thoughts and behaviors. After the first week I found myself steering my thoughts away from my automatic negative thinking patterns and looking at things objectively.

I think that the layout of this course was also well organized. It made me really look at each piece of the entire process in manageable steps. I was amazed at how quickly I started to notice a difference and am starting to feel like I have more control over my emotions than I ever knew I had.

"I felt comfortable to share my feelings, but empowered as well to work on them. The program has a sequence, and at the same time parts are related to each other. What gives us the chance to see how we’re dealing with reality and how much of creativity is being spent in problem-solving. Through this interaction I was able to see patterns, and vicious cycles.
