I am a Health Psychologist (MSc) with chartered membership of the British Psychological Society. I studied MSc in Health Psychology at the University of the West of England, Bristol.
This week I have returned from Vietnam, where I was running my own Health Psychology practice under the supervision of a team of western doctors and nurses. My role as the primary mental health service provider in the region was to offer a much needed mental health service to the expatriate community. The service I provided varied from case to case, dealing with clients with a broad spectrum of disorders and mental health needs. As a developing country, mental health services are non existent in central Vietnam. Due to the lack of availability of mental health services there was a high demand for my service. I have kept contact with some clients via online sessions. The experience I gained during my time in Vietnam was invaluable to my growth as a psychologist.
Previous to living in Vietnam, I worked as an Assistant Psychologist/Research Psychologist at the Bath Centre for Fatigue Services (BCFS) located in the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Bath, United Kingdom. BCFS offer therapeutic interventions for patients suffering from chronic fatigue (CFS/ME), and cancer related fatigue (CRF). This role at BCFS offered me the opportunity to assist with clinical input in both group and 1:1 interventions for CFS/ME patients. I gained valuable experience working alongside a team of Macmillan Professionals, comprised of Psychologists and Occupational Therapists.
I have returned home to Kerry, Ireland due to the COVID-19 pandemic as I chose to be close to my family during this difficult time. I am currently in self isolation and would like to use this time to offer my services to the community. I am here to help anyone struggling with isolation at this time, and the hardships that come with the COVID-19 pandemic.
