My preparation for the role of therapist is gained through years of experience in helping persons with issues of adverse childhood experiences, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, as well as relationship and boundary issues; in both out-patient and in-patient settings. From this experience and training at both Columbia University and New York University, coupled with the Social Work Code of Ethics, I have come to favor a person-centered approach.

I believe we, individually, hold the reins on our journey to wellness and are therefore very capable of attaining our life's goal, with support to meet challenges that we might not yet have the skills to overcome. Utilizing evidenced-based, yet culturally safe, techniques, I have met with successes in working with persons who might be stuck in the 'change process' and are seeking motivation; who are overwhelmed by the seemingly multitude of decisions or directions in the journey; or those whose journey is clouded by emotional debris of past trauma or adverse experiences.
