Jackie Dixon

Hi, I am Jackie Dixon. I attended Florida State University, Master of Science in Social Work, and graduated 1993. I have 20+ years of work experience providing therapeutic services to children/ adolescents, teens, young adults, adults, couples, and families. I worked previously as a SED Case manager, Children and Adolescent Counselor, Certified School Social Worker, and Assessor/Therapist (LMSW). In 2018, I became a Licensed Clinical Therapist. I have worked with clients struggling with a wide range of issues such as, anxiety, anger management, depression, trauma, ADHD/ADD, ODD, self-esteem/ self-confidence, relationship issues, stress, relationship issues, parenting issues, school-related issues, self-harming behavior, gender/ sexual identity issues etc.. While I do use a variety of therapy methods, I lean more towards the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on making connections between thoughts, behavior, and feelings. My goal is to help my clients identify and explore the ways their emotions/ thoughts affect their actions, identify these patterns, so they can begin learning how to change their behaviors and develop new coping strategies. My desire is to assist them in becoming the best version of themselves. I also have experience providing Christian counseling. I believe a people are the expert of their own story and have many God-given strengths that will assist them with overcoming things that challenge them. I strive to tailor dialog and treatment plans to meet my clients unique and specific needs. I am here to support and empower them on that journey. I like to focus on identifying strengths and helping individuals maximize their strengths to overcome obstacles. My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, dependable, and compassionate. I do have a sense of humor and enjoy having fun. I am here to help my clients sort through the things that are difficult right now and offer a safe place for them to be open and honest without fear of judgment. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.
