About Me

Hello, and welcome. I’m glad you’ve taken the step to explore support through Online-Therapy.com. My name is Janice Burnham, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than thirty years of experience providing counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups. Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of helping people navigate the complexities of relationships, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, major life transitions, and a variety of women’s issues including postpartum concerns, parenting challenges, identity shifts, and the journey into new seasons of life.

In addition to my clinical work, I have extensive experience as a speaker and workshop presenter. I have also served in leadership roles within the Texas Association of Marriage and Family Counselors, the Dallas Metro Counseling Association, and as a Senator in the Texas Counseling Association. These roles have given me a broader understanding of the counseling profession, its standards, and the evolving needs of individuals and families seeking support. They have also deepened my commitment to promoting ethical, accessible, and compassionate care.

My Approach: Practical, Collaborative, and Rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Throughout my years of practice, I have found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to be one of the most effective and empowering approaches to helping individuals make real and lasting changes. CBT teaches us to recognize the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—and more importantly, how shifting the ways we think can directly influence the ways we feel and respond to life.

Many people seek therapy because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain, or weighed down by thoughts they can’t seem to shake. The beauty of CBT is that it offers practical tools that you can begin using right away. These tools don’t just help you manage difficult moments—they help you build a more resilient, grounded, and purposeful way of living. Skills learned in counseling, when put into practice, truly can make a positive difference in one’s life. I have seen it again and again in my work: small shifts in perspective often create surprisingly meaningful changes in how we experience our world.

Here on Online-Therapy.com, CBT is foundational to the platform’s structure, and I find this approach aligns perfectly with how I work. You will have access to worksheets, journaling opportunities, structured exercises, and ongoing communication with me between sessions. This means that therapy doesn’t begin and end with a weekly appointment—it becomes part of your daily life, offering ongoing support as you integrate new skills and insights.

What You Can Expect Working With Me

I believe therapy should feel supportive, respectful, and collaborative. I am not here to judge or tell you how you “should” be—I am here to walk with you as we explore where you’ve been, where you are now, and where you want to go.

Clients often describe my style as warm, steady, grounded, and practical. I work to create a space where you can speak freely and openly, without fear of judgment. Sometimes you may need a gentle nudge toward new insight; other times you may need someone who will simply sit with you in your emotions until the path becomes clearer. Together, we will explore what works best for you.

Because of my decades of experience, I understand that each person’s journey is unique. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. While CBT is my foundation, I integrate a variety of techniques and perspectives depending on your needs, personality, and goals. My aim is to help you gain the tools and clarity needed to move toward a more peaceful, meaningful, and fulfilling life.

Areas I Support

Relationship Issues:
Whether you’re struggling with communication, navigating conflict, coping with heartbreak, or trying to understand patterns that repeat throughout your relationships, we can work together to uncover healthier ways of relating and connecting.

Anxiety and Depression:
These challenges can feel heavy and isolating. Using CBT techniques, I will help you understand the thought patterns that fuel anxiety or depression and guide you toward strategies that enhance calm, motivation, and emotional balance.

Grief and Loss:
Grief is deeply personal, and it can reshape your world in unexpected ways. I offer compassionate support as you move through sorrow, adjust to life changes, and rediscover meaning along the way.

Life Transitions:
Life is full of transitions—career changes, retirement, relocations, relationship changes, and identity shifts. Even positive transitions can feel overwhelming. Together, we can explore the challenges and opportunities that come with these changes.

Women’s Issues:
This includes postpartum concerns, parenting experiences, balancing roles, empty-nest adjustments, relational identity, and mid-life transitions. These seasons of life can stir complex emotions, and therapy can provide a grounding and affirming space to navigate them.

My Philosophy: Hope, Growth, and the Possibility of Silver Linings

Throughout my career, I have witnessed countless individuals discover strengths they never knew they had. I firmly believe that with knowledge, skills, and support, a person can begin to see the world differently—sometimes in profoundly positive ways.

Life can be perplexing at times. It can feel unfair, unpredictable, or overwhelming. Yet, within even the most difficult moments, there are often silver linings: moments of insight, unexpected strengths, new directions, and renewed perspectives. Sometimes you don’t see these silver linings until you slow down, reflect, and give yourself permission to look closely. Therapy can create the space needed to recognize them.

My role is not to hand you answers but to help you uncover them. You have already taken an important step by seeking support, and that demonstrates resilience, courage, and self-awareness. It tells me you are ready for change—even if you’re not yet sure what that change looks like.

Why Online Therapy Works

One of the benefits of Online-Therapy.com is the flexibility it offers. You can work through tools, exercises, and communication with me in ways that fit your lifestyle. The structure of the program allows us to build momentum between sessions, making progress more consistent and sustainable.

Online therapy also removes barriers that might have made it difficult to seek support in the past: scheduling conflicts, travel, childcare, or the discomfort of walking into an office. Here, you can engage in therapy from the comfort of your own space, at a pace that feels manageable.

Moving Forward

If you choose to work with me, we will focus on helping you gain clarity, develop useful coping strategies, and build a stronger internal foundation. Together, we will explore both challenges and possibilities, honoring your experiences while moving toward growth and greater well-being.

You deserve support that feels meaningful, practical, and aligned with who you are. I look forward to walking with you as you navigate your personal journey—and helping you discover the insights, strengths, and silver linings that can make life both rich and deeply rewarding.
