About Me

My counseling philosophy stems from the belief that all beings have an innate need for connection. A connection not only to others but to yourself is necessary for optimal living.

I am KaShunda (Shun) Davis, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. After serving active duty in the United States Navy for 8 years, I returned to my hometown, Dallas, Texas. I received a B.S. in Sociology in 1998, a M.S. in School Counseling in 2005 and completed postgraduate studies in Professional Counseling in 2017. Most recently, I completed a Sex Therapy Certification to expand my capacity as a therapist and to become a greater resource to clients as they work towards optimal sexual wellness, healthy sexual relationships, personal growth, authentic living, and self-discovery.

My 19-year career in counseling has spanned service in secondary schools, community counseling centers and private counseling serving teens, adults, and couples both virtually and face-to-face. I’ve served clients with concerns such as self-esteem and self-acceptance; anxiety and stress management, depression, self-acceptance, self-esteem, and coping skills; sexuality, gender identity and LGBTQIA+ concerns; relationship/marital issues, trauma and abuse, sex therapy and career transitions.

The therapeutic relationship is a space where exploration and curiosity can support your journey of reconnecting with self and others. As a counselor, I believe that every person is unique and worthy of unconditional acceptance. Providing support towards a client’s sense of wholeness is my goal. Authenticity and trust can prove to be a caveat in aiding you as you increase self-awareness, process feelings, identify and practice new approaches to existing problems or concerns, gain insight and to find healing and empowerment.

You will find me to be passionate about helping people work through barriers to create the relationships and lives that they desire and to develop a sense of personal strength and self-acceptance. I celebrate and welcome the diversity of all clients and strive to create an affirming, inclusive and non-judgmental space in which you can explore your individual needs and therapeutic goals.

My therapeutic style is centered upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and provides an emotionally safe space that supports insight, self-exploration, concerns, emotions, and the achievement of healthy goals. Our work together will involve exploring the connections between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; open dialogue, focusing on your strengths and values, integrating mindfulness techniques, and implementing effective coping skills and practices both during and in between sessions that can better equip you to handle life’s challenges as they arise.

I look forward to guiding individuals through a process where they can connect to self and other beings as they live in the sense of wholeness and wellness that is authentic.

I look forward to working with you,
Shun, LPC
