About Me

I started studying counseling and therapy techniques as well as psychology 20 years ago. I have obtained an MSc in psychology, a postgraduate diploma in person-centered and CBT counselling, a postgraduate diploma in drama education, and a BA in counselling and social studies. I have a friendly, non-judgemental attitude to others. People usually feel very comfortable opening up to me. I am happy to connect with anyone regardless of their cultural backgrounds. I have been educated in different types of evidence-based therapeutic methods (e.g. CBT and mindfulness techniques, autogenic training), transactional analysis, psychodrama and psychodynamic therapy. I tailor my therapeutic approach to my client’s individual needs. I have a holistic approach to life and have also studied alternative methods such as yoga and breathing techniques that help manage stress. I look at all aspects of a person (physical condition, social connections, personal beliefs) in order to help improve their well-being. I feel it is important to approach life from all angles. I have worked in different mental health settings, and in multicultural environments to practice how to connect with people of diversity. Taking a holistic approach allows me to realize whether your spiritual beliefs are essential for your emotional well-being. I take your social background and spiritual beliefs into account when I put myself in your shoes to understand your mindset. Creativity plays a vital role in mental health and well-being. Encouraging clients to get engaged in creative tasks is my favourite method to help them experiment with new perspectives and behaviours.

"I have used Online-Therapy like a 'drop in' occasional service, usually for a month or so at a time. I have just used the messaging (cheap) plan and I honestly found it pretty helpful. I find set video or in person sessions quite stressful and a pressure to relax and be open. Messaging works well for me as you have time to go off and think about each reply. I'd say if you are struggling why not give it a try? Not too much money for one month."

"I would like to talk about the good. I really didn't care for the first therapist. I met with her twice. Like many, I was worried about getting a good one, and more worried about switching if I had to. I didn't have any choice in the first one. She was just assigned to me. But switching was painless and far easier than I thought. I didn't need to explain or anything. You just hit a button to switch and then I had about a dozen choices. I enjoy my second therapist much better.

The CBT part of the website. I am not sure how I feel about it. I wanted to try guided CBT and this website does a good job. I one face to face therapist before trying this website and she also wasn't very good. But the way she introduced and did CBT with me also wasn't good. This website does a great job of breaking it down with video and worksheets. I am about 70% done with video and worksheets and the early stuff helped me realize some problem areas, but some of the later work sheets just aren't clicking with me. I don't know. Maybe my issues are too complex. Or one week one thing is bothering me, a couple weeks later its something else. If I had a singular issue I could see CBT working better for me, but my self talk and automatic negative thoughts have not been consistent through out this trouble period of my life. I am not saying it hasn't been helpful, it has.

Either way, I see the CBT as kinda a bonus and not the main reason I signed up. I live overseas and English speaking therapists are extremely hard to find or EXTREMELY expensive. So the main reason I joined was be able to have access to a live therapist that speaks English. I am happy with how this website handles that and far cheaper for than local therapists."
