About Me

I am a fully licensed professional counselor. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling at Oakland University. I have worked in the human services field for eight years. I currently work as a therapist in a residential program treating individuals with co-occurring disorders.

I have primarily worked with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, which has allowed me to gain a extensive experience with many different diagnoses and presenting needs. I also have much experience working with individuals struggling with addiction. I believe addiction to be a co-occurring disorder; whereas, I am interested in finding the root cause of the addiction as well as finding positive coping skills to diminish current substance use.

I believe it is important to listen to people with unbiased and non-judgmental ears. I believe it is important for people to be heard and understood as many people may not have the support system to understand what they may be going through. I look forward in supporting others, improving their overall well-being, and make people feel they are not alone.

"This is a good program. If you want to remember what you learned, I suggest using One Note or something to take notes on the sections and get screenshots of your worksheets. Also download and save the videos somewhere you've got space. This is a good first step for many people looking to better themselves. I suggest actually penciling most things you want to remember as it is scientifically proven to stick with us more than typing things out. Yoga you can pretty much find anywhere online for what's right for you, so you don't really have to use the resources here unless you really want to."

"Good program. At first it seemed a bit light, but its focused on what matters and unfolded well. I'd like to see better organization around the thought traps. It seems they could be bucketed into broader types like 'perceptions' and then given more attention on how to address those as a 'class' of traps. Katrina did a great job. Very caring."
