Looking for a therapist can be difficult. You might imagine someone who has certain characteristics; they are someone who appears to be a good listener, let's you know that they care about the things that you have to say, and you could trust them enough to talk about things you don't share with other people. I have worked in this field for over 30 years, with a variety of populations including individuals, children and couples. I will approach each case in a different manner because each person is different. I like to help people look for strengths they have and build upon them, learn rational problem-solving skills and identifying then learning how to express feelings in an appropriate, healthy way. Things like this will sound familiar if you have ever heard about something called, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In session, you will hear me explain that you can talk about issues at your own pace. I have been licensed by the State of Illinois to practice since 1994. We might also talk about a subject called, "Mindfulness" which is a popular form of meditation. I enjoy fly fishing, reading and writing. I have been thinking about getting a Labrador retriever pup; someone to break the silence in this old house and go on hunting and fishing trips.
