About Me

Hello! My name is Lisa Neuweg and I have been practicing psychotherapy since 2005. I received my Clinical License (LCPC) in 2007. I graduated from Bradley University with my Bachelor or Arts degree in 2001 and from there received my Master of Arts degree in Human Development Counseling at the University of Illinois at Springfield in 2004.

Upon completion of my Master's degree, I became employed at Chestnut Health Systems in Bloomington, IL as an inpatient addiction therapist. During my two and a half years at Chestnut Health Systems, I provided counseling and support to clients with alcohol and drug dependency issues. I developed and facilitated goal-oriented psychoeducational and activity therapy groups. During my time working with clients in group and individual counseling, I used a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and person-centered therapy. In addition, I provided comprehensive case management services, including creating treatment plans and connecting clients and families to appropriate resources in the community. I also presented case history material to review and discuss with other staff members.

For the past 11 years, I have been employed with Agape Counseling in Bloomington, IL. I provided counseling to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in this outpatient setting. I participated in weekly consultation services with my peers and a consultation expert in order to provide my clients with the most relevant and clinically appropriate treatment. I utilized evidence-based interventions and protocols for maximizing outcomes for specific diagnoses/populations. I facilitated several groups and workshops during my time at Agape Counseling. I facilitated groups for adolescent girls on the topics of anxiety, stress management, and healthy relationships to self and others. I Co-facilitated a group for increasing social skills for adolescents on the spectrum as well as a group for adults on healthy boundaries. I also provided workshops on self-compassion for mothers and mindful parenting.

My speciality skills include a certification in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), extensive training and experience working with self-harm issues in adolescents,
skilled in mindfulness and self-compassion practices, trained in providing grief counseling to individuals who have experienced pregnancy loss, and trained in using yoga, mindfulness, and basic nutrition to treat trauma.

I strive to use an integrative approach in my work with clients, with an emphasis on CBT and mindfulness, based on evidence-based practices and appropriate treatment for each client. I have an excellent ability to build therapeutic relationship and facilitate growth with my clients. I am well respected by my peers in the field and passionate about continuing to provide effective treatment.

"If it wasn’t for this site and opportunity, I would surely be lost. I’m thankful I found this site. Dr. Lombardo was amazing and my therapist Lisa is a GOD send. I’ve learned a lot about myself on this journey and was able to break down everything I was experiencing and going through. I will surely recommend this site to anyone who needs help in their lives. I’m so thankful for these outlets for people to get the help they need."

"The worksheets are very helpful. They help you to start realizing what your problems are and how to start correcting them on your own and the steps to take to slowly be able to do that. My therapist is very helpful with everything and helpful in explaining the best ways to help myself get where I want to be. She also is very good at listening to my problems and giving me the tools to help myself deal with them on my own while also helping me through them."

"This therapy program definitely helped me in my day to day interactions and greatly lessened my anxiety. As with any online program, the logging in and doing it can sometimes be difficult. I’m not sure if I had notifications turned off, but emails or text reminders would greatly help on the weeks where it would sometimes slip my mind. Definitely stick through the program. The end is the best part, takes more thought but it’s where you will start to feel change. I cried from relief as I completed the last worksheets and felt genuinely happy. I do very much hope that all my worksheets can be saved so I can go back and see my progress months from now. Special thanks to Lisa who was very patient and thorough in our interactions :)"

"The sections and worksheets along with feedback you get from your psychologist are very helpful."

"Lisa is an amazing therapist. She has really tailored her approach to my situation, consistently giving me relevant advice. She responds very quickly to messages and worksheet comments, and is upfront about her availabilities and what I can expect in terms of timeframe. While there are a few kinks to work on in terms of the online interface (being able to save live chat transcripts, having access to phone or video chat, some saving issues with the worksheets, etc), the program is very helpful. In order for it to be effective, you definitely need to be ready to put effort and reflection into the worksheets, as well as have targeted areas to work on during live sessions, taking into account and implementing your therapist's advice. Thank you Lisa!"

"This online therapy program was so helpful to me! The worksheets were challenging, but they really helped me pinpoint my negative thought patterns and helped me change them to more positive ones. My therapist was great and walked me through every step of the way. I truly valued her input."

"I have to admit, i was not sure i would like this form of therapy. However, i have actually found it really helpful so far. The direct feedback on the worksheets/ messages you send to your therapist is really helpful, and i like that you don't have to wait for once a week session to discuss something. I also like how i can choose to do things at my own pace. For example, i have the feeling that i need to just take some time for self-care at the moment, and my therapist is helping me with that. Also, my therapist, Lisa Neuweg, is extremely empathic and supportive, which i feel is really helping my process at this time. I am happy to continue with my sessions because i feel they are helping me a lot."

"Quality videos and guided worksheets are clear and structured to allow me to do the work I need to do independently."

"Finding the process very valuable to go through. Being open and honest with yourself is key to finding what really lies beneath your suffering."
