Dr. Patrick Cleveland

I have a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado-Denver, Colorado and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University, Virginia Beach. I have served as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Play Therapist for the past 20 years. I have served for 16 years as a teacher in graduate programs online and in-person. I have been a school counselor for the past 4 years in New Mexico with students from three-year-olds through 8th grade. I am a member of the American Counseling Association, the American School Counselor Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the Association for Play Therapy, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and a National Certified Counselor with the National Board for Certified Counselors. When I am counseling children, I use a play therapy approach that includes Jungian psychotherapy and Solution-Focused play therapy. When I am working with older children and adolescents, I employ strategies from game counseling. When I am working with individual adults, I employ Solution-Focused Therapy and Person-Centered Counseling. I use communications theory and conflict resolution strategies when I am working with couples and families.
