Dr. Paul Fernandez

Hello and good morning. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to apply for a teletherapy position with your company. My name is Dr. Paul M. Fernandez. My father is originally from Cuba and my mother is from Mexico. I value a strong Latino culture and heritage. I grew up in Southern California and have lived here for most of my life. I graduated with my bachelor's degree from the California State University system and then attended Indiana University at Bloomington for my masters and doctoral program. In 1996 I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Following my graduation I began work in the California Department of State Hospitals as a clinical psychologist. My main responsibilities involved conducting substance abuse treatment and forensic competency evaluations. In 2004 I left the state hospital system and opened my own private practice focusing on providing mental health services to members of the Latino communities. Twenty years later, I am transitioning from in-person therapy to semi-retirement. However, it is my desire to continue this life-long dream of helping those in needs by moving to a teletherapy-only practice. In my nearly thirty years of experience, I have relied on a holistic therapy approach to mental health that strongly incorporates cognitive behavioral and solutions-focused therapy modalities. I value each and every patient and am dedicated to helping each one achieve the happiness they both need and deserve.
