I believe that therapy is a sacred space where you should be able to be yourself, trust, and grow. I believe that therapy should be supportive, nurturing, and welcoming. I take a very Rogerian (client centered) approach which means that the client comes first. I tailor therapy to meet your needs and meet you where you are at. I focus heavily on building rapport and creating a strong foundation before diving into the deeper work. This ensures that there is trust and you know the space is safe. I am open to feedback and clients telling me what they need from me in therapy.
My approach includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which both focus heavily on adapting internal and external experiences. I focus on increasing acceptance, decreasing avoidance, defusing and restructuring unhelpful beliefs/rules/stories, and finding a way to observe those experiences without entanglement. Another area of therapy will focus heavily on mindfulness, grounding, and being in the present moment. We often move so fast that we don't take enough time to slow down, be still, and be intentional about being present. I can help you identify strong values and make committed steps toward meaningful change.
